Forklift Certification Program

Forklift Certification Program OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.178 requires employers to establish and implement a forklift training and certification program. Failure to provide adequate training and certification as required by OSHA regulations can result in fines up to $7,000/employee.

Also known as "
Power Industrial Truck Certification" (PIT) or Forklift Certification program; is designed for inexperienced operators who wish to learn the practical and safe operation of a forklift. Class size shall be limited to ten students at a time. Classroom instruction in the principles, theory and regulations related to forklift operation and includes a review of equipment requirements, warnings, precautions, hazards and principles. Hands-on operation learning controls and instrumentation, power plant inspection, operation and maintenance, techniques for steering and maneuvering, visibility limitations, refueling, load manipulation equipment capacity and stability and operation in narrow aisles or other restricted areas is provided. Upon observation and evaluation by an instructor trained in certification, each student shall receive a Mobile Equipment Operator's Certification.
